The Biden Enigma: A Tale of Pinocchios and Political Prevarication
From Fabricated Arrests to Financial Entanglements: An Exploration of the President's Persistent Dance with Dubiety and the Media's Reluctant Pursuit of Truth
By Alexander Muse Ā·
In the annals of political prevarication, President Joseph R. Biden has emerged as a rather regular beneficiary of the Washington Post's "Pinocchios," a dubious honor bestowed for his misstatements on subjects as diverse as election laws, abortion protections, and deficit reduction. Unfazed, the President persists in the recitation of apocryphal tales from his life, ranging from a fabricated arrest with the venerable Nelson Mandela to a phantasmagorical train conductor. This week, he persevered with the spurious claim concerning the "Joey, Baby" conductor.
Now, the President finds himself adorned with a fresh set of "Four Pinocchios," but the falsity extends beyond mere invention of conductors or a revisionist approach to the Second Amendment. The Post, in a moment of journalistic candor, concedes that Mr. Biden has been dissembling about his son Hunter's financial entanglements with China. It is a sign, perhaps, that the protective media bulwark surrounding the President is showing signs of fatigue, succumbing to the ponderous weight of new evidence in the corruption imbroglio.
Glenn Kessler, writing with a pen dipped in reluctant ink, noted that the elder Biden has repeatedly and categorically insisted that his progeny received no pecuniary gain from China. Yet, in a twist worthy of a Greek tragedy, Hunter himself has contradicted his father's assertions. In court testimony, he acknowledged receipt of substantial sums from the Middle Kingdom, a first official confirmation of the matter.
What intrigues the discerning observer is the Post's reticence to investigate, preferring to await Hunter's virtual confession rather than scrutinize money transfers and records released by House committees probing the scandal. The media's passive stance, marked by a lack of journalistic zeal, is a curious phenomenon indeed.
Nevertheless, credit must be begrudgingly extended for the eventual confirmation of what has long been in the public domain. Kessler's account details the younger Biden's dealings, which curiously overlapped with the President's travels and meetings, involving Chinese entities and substantial sums.
The Post, however, emphasizes its failure to unearth evidence that Joe Biden personally benefited from or was privy to the transactions with CEFC. One might wonder at the Post's lack of vigor in pursuing such benefits, absent yet another Biden admission or confession.
As with the palpably false claims of ignorance or non-involvement in these dealings, the question has metamorphosed from whether Joe Biden has been prevaricating to why he has been doing so. The answer, alas, remains ensconced in the shadows of political intrigue, awaiting the relentless pursuit of truth by those still committed to its discovery.
